Position Overview:

The Senior Level Embedded Systems Engineer will be responsible for developing the circuit designs and firmware required for a variety of sensing technologies used in the Seametrics family of flow and water quality instrumentation systems. Hardware designs using STM32 and PIC microcontrollers to generate flow, pressure, conductivity, ph, temperature, and dissolved oxygen measurements. The incumbent will also be responsible for generating communication protocol stacks using the OEM development platforms for protocols such as Modbus and HART.

This senior position will own project management for electrical hardware design and firmware development of custom, leading-edge precision instrumentation.

A passion for quality software and experience with writing code from high-level embedded applications down to low-level device drivers are essential; good interpersonal skills and proven project leadership are highly valued.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Project manager for new product development and sustaining engineering efforts
  • Continuous process improvement of project management and development systems
  • Mentoring of junior engineers
  • Generate firmware using C code development platforms
  • Work on hardware development to support existing microprocessor platforms and to develop the strategy and designs for future hardware
  • Lead system architecture design
  • Lead and participate in design reviews and code reviews
  • Participate in functional test planning
  • Work with product development team to define requirements, develop architecture, provide status updates, and track commitments
  • Work independently on small projects and lead software/firmware teams on larger projects
Position Requirements:
  • 4 year degree in embedded systems engineering or combined electrical engineering/computer science degree
  • 10+ years work experience
  • Strong C programming skills, Assembly language a plus
  • STM32 and PIC32 microcontroller expertise
  • User interface design
  • Must have development experience with SPI, I2C, UART communication
  • Must have full cycle product development experience (from requirements to release)
  • Must have experience developing designs for analog/digital precision instrumentation (flow meter technology a plus)
  • Solid understanding and experience in firmware engineering methodologies and best practices
  • Expertise is schematic design and development
  • Expertise with common embedded toolchains (e.g. Attolic TruesStudio/MPLAB) and version control systems (subversion, git)
  • Expertise in low power design strategies for battery powered products
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Altium software
  • Experience with board bring-up
  • Experience in wireless technologies (e.g Bluetooth, WiFi, etc.) and serial communications protocols
