About the role
We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Data Science Engineer with deep expertise in real-time data synchronization, data engineering, and AI/ML model development using Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This role will be instrumental in designing, integrating, and optimizing real-time data pipelines between SQL Server databases (Windows Server) and Google Cloud BigQuery, while also developing predictive AI models in Vertex AI and ensuring their seamless integration into workplace analytics systems.
As a key member of the Data & Technology (D&T) team, you will be responsible for real-time data synchronization, AI-driven analytics, and machine learning solutions for various Workplace Experience (WX) data, including Attendance tracking, Occupancy forecasting, Food demand prediction, Operations and ticketing optimization, financial insights and cost optimization. This role requires a blend of hands-on technical expertise and strategic problem-solving to enhance workplace intelligence through data-driven AI solutions.
What you'll do
- Design, implement, and manage real-time data pipelines to synchronize SQL Server databases (Windows Server 2019) with Google BigQuery.
- Enable and configure Change Data Capture (CDC) on SQL Server 2019 to track changes in key tables for real-time data ingestion.
- Set up and manage Google Cloud DataStream to enable streaming data replication between SQL Server and BigQuery.
- Develop and optimize Google Cloud Dataflow pipelines for real-time data processing, transformation, and ingestion into BigQuery.
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity by implementing robust validation, transformation, and reconciliation processes.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data pipelines for performance, cost-efficiency, and failure resilience.
- Build and deploy predictive AI models using BigQuery ML & Vertex AI for:
Workplace Occupancy Forecasting (Time Series, ARIMA, LSTMs).
Food Demand Prediction (AI-driven inventory management).
Operations Ticket Prioritization (NLP, Text Classification).
- Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA), feature engineering, and data pre-processing to improve model performance.
- Implement real-time AI-driven alerts and decision-making workflows for workplace optimization.
- Ensure seamless integration of ML models into Google Looker.
- Deploy and manage AI solutions at scale using Vertex AI Pipelines & Cloud Functions.
- Implement CI/CD pipelines for ML models, ensuring versioning, automated retraining, and performance monitoring.
- Develop model monitoring dashboards for tracking ML model performance in real-time.
- Work closely with Workplace Ops, Finance, HR, and Facilities teams to identify AI-driven opportunities for operational efficiency.
- Define and document ML architecture, best practices, and data governance standards.
- Lead efforts in automating AI-driven workflows to improve operational efficiency.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's degree or master's degree in engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Data Science, Business Analytics or equivalent.
- 5+ years of experience in machine learning, real-time analytics, and AI-driven data processing.
- Proven track record in implementing real-time Change Data Capture (CDC) pipelines using Google DataStream and Cloud Dataflow to synchronize SQL Server (Windows Server 2019) with BigQuery.
- Deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) tools including BigQuery, Vertex AI, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions, and DataStream.
- Hands-on experience building and deploying machine learning models with BigQuery ML, Vertex AI, TensorFlow, and Scikit-learn.
- Specialized in time series forecasting (ARIMA, Prophet, LSTMs) and classification models for workplace and operational analytics.
- Leverage Large Language Models (LLMs) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) to drive sentiment analysis and extract insights from unstructured workplace data, enabling data-informed decision-making across Workplace operations.
- Proficient in designing Apache Beam pipelines in Cloud Dataflow for real-time data transformation and processing.
- Skilled in using real-time messaging tools like Kafka, Debezium, and Pub/Sub for data ingestion and event-driven workflows.
- Developed and managed CI/CD pipelines for ML models with Vertex AI Pipelines, including model versioning, auto-retraining, and monitoring.
- Built automated model retraining pipelines to support continuous learning and real-time accuracy improvements.
- Advanced SQL expertise for performance-tuned queries and database optimization.
- Proficient in Python and PowerShell for automation, scripting, and end-to-end data engineering workflows.
- Experience with real-time workplace data, IoT-based analytics, and production-grade AI deployments.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset, focused on building resilient and scalable AI solutions.
- Adaptable team player in agile environments with a proven ability to drive cross-functional AI adoption.
- Excellent communicator with collaborative experience across data engineering, workplace operations, and leadership teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Google Cloud certifications such as Professional Data Engineer or Professional Cloud Architect.
- Experience with data warehousing and ELT/ETL best practices.
- Hands-on experience with Apache Spark, Hadoop, or distributed data processing frameworks.
- Familiarity with BI & Data Visualization tools.
- Experience deploying MLOps pipelines for automated ML model retraining.

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate's education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the Sr Data Scientist position is $150,000.00 annually and the maximum salary for the Sr Data Scientist position is $170,000.00 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE's applicable benefit program.
