About the Role:

We are looking for a Senior Data Modeler with deep expertise in data modeling practices and strong experience in the life insurance domain. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data models that support enterprise data initiatives, with a focus on policy administration, claims, underwriting, actuarial, and customer data.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design and development of conceptual, logical, and physical data models for life insurance systems and data platforms.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, data architects, and engineering teams to understand business requirements and translate them into scalable and optimized data models.
  • Develop and maintain data dictionaries, entity relationship diagrams (ERDs), and metadata documentation.
  • Ensure models align with industry standards, enterprise architecture, and regulatory requirements (e.g., NAIC, IFRS 17, SOX).
  • Model data across life insurance domains including policy administration, claims, underwriting, reinsurance, actuarial, and customer 360.
  • Work closely with ETL, data governance, and data quality teams to support data lineage, master data management (MDM), and stewardship initiatives.
  • Review and optimize existing data models for performance and integrity in OLTP and OLAP environments.
  • Support data warehousing and reporting/analytics solutions including dimensional modeling (star/snowflake schemas).
  • Advocate and enforce modeling best practices, naming conventions, and data standards across the enterprise.
Requirements

Required Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of experience in data modeling with 3+ years in the life insurance domain.
  • Proficiency with data modeling tools such as Erwin, ER/Studio, SAP PowerDesigner, or IBM InfoSphere Data Architect.
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and data warehouse platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, Teradata).
  • Experience with dimensional modeling, 3NF, Data Vault, and data normalization/denormalization techniques.
  • Strong understanding of insurance domain data including products, riders, beneficiaries, premiums, claims, and regulatory data.
  • Familiarity with data governance, data quality, and metadata management practices.
  • Excellent SQL skills and ability to understand and optimize complex queries.
  • Strong documentation, analytical, and communication skills to work with both technical and non-technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Exposure to life insurance systems such as Ingenium, ALIP, Vantage, AdminServer, or similar.
  • Knowledge of regulatory reporting requirements (e.g., IFRS 17, NAIC, SOX).
  • Understanding of data integration tools such as Informatica, Talend, or SSIS.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
