Sr Data Engineer

Job Description

An employer is looking for a Data Engineer for an on-site opportunity in the Cincinnati, Ohio area. The role is a contract opportunity through the end of the year with likelihood for extensions or conversion. The position must sit on-site in their Madisonville location 5x/week.

The client is a large financial organization and this individual will be responsible for working with business analysts, data engineers and upstream teams to understand impacts to data sources as the bank modernizes. They will take the requirements and update/build ETL data pipelines using Datastage and DBT for ingestion into the internal applications.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, construct, install, test and maintain data management systems.

Build high-performance algorithms, predictive models, and prototypes.

Ensure that all systems meet the business/company requirements as well as industry practices.

Integrate up-and-coming data management and software engineering technologies into existing data structures.

Develop set processes for data mining, data modeling, and data production.

Create custom software components and analytics applications.

Research new uses for existing data.

Employ an array of technological languages and tools to connect systems together.

Collaborate with members of your team (eg, data architects, the IT team, data scientists) on the projects goals.

Install/update disaster recovery procedures.

Recommend different ways to constantly improve data reliability and quality.

Skills and Requirements

6 years of experience, including at least 4 years in a hands-on data engineering role

Strong ETL DataStage Development data modeling, building out ETL pipelines; Data sourcing, data movement, data integration

ETL - Data movement, data integration and data modeling, building out ETL pipelines; troubleshooting ETL script failures

SQL writing complex procedures/views/ tables; taking data from SQL database into a centralized database and add/write reporting layers

DBT (could be flexible on this but HIGHLY preferred)

Good problem solver who can design solutions for a given problem statement and plan the development steps necessary to implement the solution

Strong communicator / able to work effectively with Business unit and cross-functional partners

Be a team player in a highly collaborative environment, comfortable with constructively challenging others ideas, and having own ideas challenged Banking industry experience specifically financial crimes, debits, frauds or disputes experience

Snowflake design and develop the data sourcing solution in Snowflake
