Senior Cost Accountant
Are you an experienced Cost Accountant with a knack for innovation, cross-functional collaboration, and driving strategic business impact? We're seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to help our client and join a dynamic finance team and act as a vital partner to operations and supply chain teams. This position plays a critical role in owning the books for Cost of Goods Sold (COGS), delivering key insights to leadership, and identifying cost-saving opportunities to optimize investments and operations.
What You'll Do:
As the Senior Cost Accountant, you'll deliver financial ownership, strategic insight, and hands-on support across various operational areas. Key responsibilities include:
1. Operations and Financial Reporting Support
- Partner directly with operations and supply chain teams for budget submissions (LE1, LE2, BU), month-end, and year-end close.
- Present weekly production consumption and monthly COGS variance updates to key stakeholders, including Operations and Finance leadership.
- Develop and update KPI reports and provide actionable insights to the VP of Operations.
- Support FI Pillar in investigating variances, conducting root cause analysis, and solving complex manufacturing process issues.
2. ERP and Data Expertise
- Create and enhance ERP SAP S/4HANA reporting using tools like BI and Evolve.
- Regularly reconcile and close work orders across all business units.
3. Product Costing & Profitability Analysis
- Collaborate cross-functionally to develop accurate standard costs for existing and new products.
- Assess supply chain costs, co-manufacturing, and distribution costs, and recommend solutions to improve profitability.
- Monitor and implement improvements to standard routings and scrap rates, ensuring gross profit accuracy.
4. Inventory Management
- Analyze raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods flows, identifying gaps and driving process enhancements in cycle counts and production receipts.
- Work closely with Procurement, Planning, and Logistics teams to reduce inventory and improve forecasting.
- Conduct month-end variance analysis and explain revaluation and deferral components to stakeholders effectively.
5. Month-End Close, Forecasting, and Ad-Hoc Analysis
- Perform detailed variance analyses (e.g., PPV, labor, indirect costs, stock adjustments, destruction, and deferrals) and communicate results to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with supply chain leadership on actionable forecasts for materials, labor, and overhead costs.
- Support Operations, Finance, and senior leadership with impactful decision-making analytics.
The Ideal Candidate Brings:
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum 4 years of cost accounting experience, preferably within a Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) environment.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Strong background in SAP S/4HANA, particularly with standard costs, inventory transactions, and General Ledger.
- Expertise in Excel for building working models and management tools.
