About the Role:

This is a fully remote opportunity; however, candidates based in the Texas market are strongly preferred due to the collaborative nature of the role and occasional in-person strategy sessions.
This position requires a strategic and analytical thought leader with deep technical expertise across Excel (advanced modeling and automation), SQL (complex querying and data extraction), Power BI (dashboard development and enterprise reporting), and Tableau (data storytelling and visualization). The ideal candidate thrives in a data-rich environment, has a passion for building actionable insights, and can synthesize complexity into clarity for executive stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the strategic liaison between business stakeholders and technology teams to elicit, analyze, document, and validate business and system requirements.
- Lead complex data initiatives across business units, synthesizing large datasets into actionable intelligence through high-impact dashboards and reports using Power BI and Tableau.
- Design, develop, and maintain advanced Excel-based models, templates, and automations to support strategic decision-making.
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries to extract, transform, and analyze data from multiple enterprise systems and data warehouses.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Finance, and Operations teams to ensure business needs are accurately translated into technical deliverables.
- Leverage business intelligence tools to surface trends, opportunities, and anomalies that drive enterprise-level decisions.
- Partner with executive leadership to design key performance indicators (KPIs) and support quarterly business reviews with strategic data insights.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying areas for process automation, system enhancements, and data governance.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- 5+ years of progressive experience in business analysis, data analytics, or a related function within the tech or SaaS industry.
- Proven expertise in:
- Microsoft Excel (Advanced formulas, pivot tables, Power Query, VBA/Macros).
- SQL (Joins, subqueries, stored procedures, performance tuning).
- Power BI (Data modeling, DAX, publishing, and maintaining enterprise dashboards).
- Tableau (Dashboard design, storytelling, calculated fields, LOD expressions).
- Demonstrated experience working with cross-functional teams to turn data into business strategy.
- Deep understanding of relational databases, data lakes, and data governance principles.
- Ability to lead requirements gathering sessions, translate business needs into detailed functional specifications, and manage project scope in an agile environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to interface with C-level stakeholders with confidence and clarity.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field (Master's preferred).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Based in Texas or ability to travel to Dallas for occasional team or client meetings.
- Experience in a high-growth tech, SaaS, or enterprise software environment.
- Familiarity with Python or R for ad hoc data analysis is a strong plus.
- Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and data pipelines is highly desirable.
- PMP or CBAP certification is a plus, but not required.
