This position is located on the Southeast side of Houston. The Sr. Accountant provides accounting and analytical support to the finance department, executive management and managers. The Sr. Accountant ensures accurate, complete, and timely processing of accounting transactions with consistent application of accounting policies and procedures while seeking process improvements and standardization.
Responsibilities
- Apply in depth understanding of GAAP and adhere to all company policies and procedures
- Perform the month-end and year-end financial period close process including preparation of journal entries to ensure reliability and accuracy
- Prepare financial statements, reporting packages, and regulatory reporting documents timely and accurately
- Demonstrate strong analytical and problem solving skills to identify discrepancies in financial data and propose effective solutions to ensure accuracy and compliance with laws and regulations
- Apply meticulous attention to detail through observation, analysis, and logic to analyze financial results, reconcile accounts and resolve complex finance issues that have implications beyond one's own area.
Qualifications
- 5+ years' of professional accounting/finance experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA preferred
- Hands on experience with accounting ERP software packages
- Advanced Excel skills including V-lookups and Pivot Tables
