Role: SQL/Oracle Database Administrator
Location: Long Island City , NY
Duration: Contract
The person hired for this position will:
Serve as SQL/Oracle Database Administrator in a complex business environment using both SQL server in Azure and Oracle in Solaris/REHL.
Be primarily assigned as a SQL Server DBA working with three other Oracle DBAs.
senior level experience in SQL Server database administration, with a working knowledge as Oracle database administrator.
Responsibilities include, but will not be limited to:
v Support SQL database and Server including performance management, security, installations, upgrades, patches, backup, recovery, space management, performance tuning and capacity planning.
v Deploy changes in database, proactively monitoring of performance and capacity planning of RDBMS. This includes writing power shell scripts and procedures to automate the process.
v Provide management with recommendations for upgrades and maintenance to ensure the Database Server is running optimally. Perform backup and recovery process, including disaster recovery performance, tuning of database and application.
v Responsible for planning, designing, coordinating and administration of SQL Database Server, including database definition, structure, documentation, standard, and recommending/executing a backup and recovery strategy.
v Work with IT operation team to support various products/applications and assist business users and developers with database-related issues.
v Provide day-to-day production database server administration, perform troubleshooting, and remediate various systems/applications issues.
v Follow and enforce IT Operation policies and procedures.
v Efficiently manage routine DBA requests.
v Must be self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to work on a team.
Requirements:
v Minimum 2 years of experience as Oracle database DBA.
v Minimum 5 years of experience as SQL server database DBA.
v Must have experience and expertise in SQL database server installations, migration, upgrades, capacity planning, performance tuning, backup/recovery, performance oriented design.
v Must be able to lead application development teams in the optimal use of database and transaction management technology through creation and communication of standards and walkthrough of critical application components.
v Microsoft Certified Professional, DBA - MS SQL Certification.
v Solid understanding of RDBMS with in-depth knowledge of Transaction SQL, PL/SQL, and Webservices.
v Experience with Windows Server environments and Microsoft SQL Server database technologies.
v Good experience in configuring and using SQL Server Always On Availability.
v Experience with DevOps, SSRS, SSIS, SSMA and Redgate SQL tools.
v Excellent written and communication skills.
