POSITION SUMMARY:

The SQL Developer I provides technical support for District database environment, including oversight, development, organization, assessment, and implementation. Creates, maintains, and updates reports and data files for all key database systems running mission critical processes. Works with development team to ensure operational efficacy through monitoring and planning for future expansion data requirements and data modeling with the use of business intelligence tools. Reviews workflow charts developed by Information Systems teams. Assists in troubleshooting operational and development errors to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability for critical District data. This position reports to the Coordinator of Business Information Systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develops, designs, and maintains Extraction Transformation Loading (ETL) solutions to seamlessly integrate District infrastructure. Develops, designs, delivers, and maintains enterprise-reporting methods utilizing various reporting tools. Develops, designs, and maintains database solutions using SQL functions, procedures, views, and other RDBMS techniques.

Collaborates with the development team on data integration projects for the District. Designs and executes the test scripts and test scenarios.

Monitors scheduled jobs/logs and troubleshoots failures/errors.

All others duties as assigned and necessary to perform the above services.

KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS

Associates or Technical Degree in a related field required. Bachelor's degree in a Computer Science or a Database Management related field preferred.

Minimum of three (3) years of experience writing and executing queries on Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) using Microsoft SQL Server required. Understanding of database administration, including database structures, theories, principles, and practices required. Experience in and K-12 academic environment is preferred.

Requires District coordination; makes decisions and recommendations, which affect District employees, students, parents, and constituents.

Current industry certifications in Microsoft or Oracle database systems preferred.

Critical Thinker: independent judgment, critical thinking, and problem solving is required to meet expectations and achieve organizational goals.

Requires excellent interpersonal skills, regular, frequent contact with internal personnel of influence and decision-making responsibility to discuss issues of moderate importance; requires occasional contact all levels of district leadership.

Requires excellent written and oral communication skills.

Applies, recommends, and implements technology solutions to improve the effectiveness of district objectives.

Normal office setting.

Moderate travel across the district with occasional travel for off-site training.

Light duty - On most occasions sitting at a desk or table; intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping.

Light lifting; twenty (20) lbs. or less.

NOTE: This is a grade 27, 225-day position that pays for experience up to a Step 8.
