Skills & Qualifications :
- Database Development
- Advanced T-SQL development (CTEs, window functions, dynamic SQL)
- Stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views
- Transaction handling and error management
- Query performance tuning and execution plan analysis
- Data Integration & Reporting
- SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) - troubleshooting, creation and maintenance
- SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) - report server deployment and maintenance
- Data migration (on-prem to cloud, flat files, Excel, APIs)
- Service Broker
- Design and implementation of Service Broker for asynchronous processing
- Performance Tuning & Monitoring
- Index analysis and optimization (fragmentation, missing indexes)
- Use of DMVs, Query Store, and Extended Events for diagnostics
- Deadlock detection and resolution
- Wait stats and latch analysis
- Experience with SQL Profiler to solve complex performance issues
- Experience using query execution plans to gain insight into long running processes
- High Availability & Disaster Recovery
- Backup/restore strategies, including point-in-time recovery
- Recovery models and log management
- Always On Availability Groups and Failover Clustering
- Log shipping and database mirroring
- Disaster recovery planning and testing
- Cloud & Hybrid Database Management
- Azure SQL Database and Managed Instance administration
- Infrastructure & Security
- Windows Server and Active Directory integration
- SQL Server roles, permissions, and data encryption
- TempDB configuration best practices
- PowerShell for SQL Server automation
- Storage performance awareness (IOPs, throughput)
- Development Tools & Practices
- Source control
- Familiarity with Redgate or similar tools
- Documentation and process standardization
