Responsibilities

Under general supervision and medical direction, the role involves performing speech-language pathology procedures. This requires considerable judgment in accordance with physician-prescribed treatment plans and within the scope of departmental policies. The practice encompasses patient and family assessment and management, resource management, care facilitation, and discharge planning as necessary.

Key responsibilities include:
Assessing patients' communication and swallowing abilities.
Designing and implementing individualized treatment plans to restore, reinforce, and enhance speech and communication abilities.
Administering prescribed therapies and monitoring patient progress, noting responses and any adverse reactions.
Providing in-service training to patients, family members, and facility staff to promote independence and productivity.
Adapting to the diverse needs of patients and various care settings.
Maintaining and cleaning equipment as required.
Participating in meetings and collaborating with peers.
Making appropriate referrals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Documenting all patient care services rendered as part of a medical record.
Attending internal and external educational programs and reviewing appropriate professional journals to maintain and enhance technical skills and clinical competencies.
Participating in interdisciplinary patient rounds and conferences to plan and evaluate effective patient care.
Participating in quality assurance program data collection as assigned.
Responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of rehabilitation services; adherence to an established plan of care, department and patient(s)' schedule, and timely documentation of services.1
Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Disorders, Communicative Disorders, or a similarly-titled area consistent with and acceptable to the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
A Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) or eligibility to participate as an ASHA Clinical Fellow. Candidates eligible to obtain the Certificate of Clinical Competence will also be considered.
Licensed, certified, or credentialed as required in the state of practice.

Compensation

The hourly compensation for this role is expected to range from $40.04 to $42.68 USD .
