Ensure the efficient, safe, and cost-effective production of high-quality chemical products while maintaining compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.

Job Summary:

An experienced and results-driven Operations Manager is needed to lead a chemical manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in batch and continuous-flow chemical processes, operational leadership experience, and a track record of driving efficiency and business results. This role is responsible for overseeing daily plant operations, including production, safety, quality control, financial performance, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Operations Manager will play a key role in optimizing plant efficiency while ensuring regulatory compliance and meeting company objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Leadership - Oversee daily plant operations to ensure safe, efficient, and effective production. Manage cross-functional teams, including production, maintenance, quality, and safety. Implement operational strategies to improve performance and meet business goals.
  • Process Optimization - Maximize production efficiency by minimizing downtime, improving process reliability, and increasing throughput while maintaining safety and quality standards.
  • Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) Compliance - Foster a strong safety culture, ensuring adherence to all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. Lead training programs, conduct audits, and implement risk mitigation strategies.
  • Quality Assurance - Ensure all products meet required specifications and industry standards. Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and operational excellence.
  • Financial Oversight - Support budget planning, cost management, and operational expenditures. Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements while maintaining production standards.
  • Team Development - Lead, mentor, and develop plant employees, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and professional growth.
  • Regulatory Compliance - Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, managing inspections and audits effectively.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration - Work closely with senior leadership, engineering, R&D, and other departments to align operations with business objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related technical field.
  • Experience:
  • 7+ years in chemical manufacturing, with at least 5 years in an operational leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of batch and continuous chemical production processes.
  • Experience with budgeting, cost control, and CAPEX management.
  • Ability to adapt production planning and performance to customer demands.
  • Hands-on leadership style with a track record of fostering collaboration across all levels.
  • Business & Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of market trends, product costing, and financial management in a manufacturing setting.
  • Commercial Awareness: Knowledge of the chemical industry, customer needs, and competitive landscape.
  • Safety & Compliance Expertise: Extensive experience with SHE standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Leadership & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to lead teams, drive operational improvements, and make data-driven decisions.
