Specialty Doctor in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

This post is offered on a full-time 10 Programmed Activity basis (9 DCC PAs and 1 SPA PAs), although applications for less than full-time will be considered.

Duties will primarily be based at our Wakefield (Pinderfields) and Dewsbury sites, although all medical staff are involved in delivering care across all three sites.

Main duties of the job
  • Provision of care to patients in the Oral & Maxillofacial service
  • Referral of patients to other specialties as appropriate
  • Out-patient activities/clinics depending on patient needs
  • Participation in relevant multidisciplinary teams and meetings
  • Teaching and supervision of junior medical staff and other clinicians as appropriate
  • Active involvement in audit and clinical governance, including service improvement activities

Person Specification Management Skills
  • Demonstrates an analytical approach to problem-solving
  • Good time management
  • Strong organizational skills
Qualifications
  • Dental Degree from a recognized dental school
  • Progress towards or attainment of Royal College Exams
  • Certifications such as ATLS, ALS, APLS, or PALS
  • Higher qualifications e.g., MFARM, FRCS, MRCP, MRCPG, MRCS, FRCA, or equivalent
GDC Registration
  • Full GDC registration with a license to practice, including your GDC number
Experience
  • At least four years of full-time hospital service in a junior or higher grade since first registration, including a minimum of one year in Oral Surgery
  • Experience in teaching clinical skills
  • Experience in clinical research and development
