Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Three (3) years of full-time experience in content marketing, copywriting, digital marketing and/or related fields.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a higher education, non-profit and/or healthcare system. Additional year(s) of full-time experience in content marketing, copywriting, digital marketing and/or related fields. Experience with content management systems (CMS) such as WordPress. Knowledge of SEO best practices and content optimization strategies. Experience in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator).

Brief Description of Duties:
The Stony Brook University Advancement Specialist, Content Marketing position supports the Marketing and Communications team's mission by developing and managing content that enhances our brand, engages our audience, and supports our mission. This role will play a critical part in increasing awareness, driving engagement, and generating support through compelling storytelling and content distribution across multiple platforms.

The Specialist, Content Marketing will be responsible for developing, executing, and managing a content strategy that aligns with organizational goals. Creating high-quality, engaging content, including website stories, social media posts, email communications, and multimedia assets. Optimizing content for search engines (SEO), and email and social media engagement. They will work with members of the Marketing and Communications, Constituent Experience, and Data Services teams to support Stony Brook University Advancement's goals. Possession of exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills is crucial to be successful in this role.
  • Content Development:
    • Develop and edit communications for Marketing and Communications that are clear, concise, and aligned with Advancement objectives. Work on web and email content, social media posts, video scripts, presentations, reports, and other internal and external materials to effectively convey complex information compellingly and motivate audience members to take action. Maintain knowledge of marketing best practices and use analytics to refine content and strategies.
  • Project Management:
    • Plan, execute, manage and monitor Marketing and Communications projects, ensuring timely and accurate completion while proactively communicating updates to the team. Projects will include but not limited to assisting with the development of a comprehensive content strategy, writing impactful material that will be featured in digital and print, implementing SEO best practices to improve organic reach, working with our social media team to develop engaging campaigns and posts, assisting with email copy and newsletters, coordinating the production of videos featuring testimonials, impact stories, and other highlights.
  • Relationship Development:
    • Strengthen relationships with internal and external stakeholders, Advancement teams, and other Stony Brook University departments through regular communication and collaboration. Facilitate and attend regular meetings and events to enhance relationships, ensure mutual success, and achieve Advancement 's goals.
  • Administrative & Customer Support:
    • Provide support to Marketing and Communications, creating efficiency and organization across administrative tasks. Assist with scheduling, correspondence, and document management to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Growth/Development:
    • Seek opportunities for growth and learning to improve personal and team performance and contribute to the success of the organization. Share insights and best practices, and foster a culture of continuous learning within the team.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Special Notes:The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
