The Specialist, Business Systems serves as a key business solutions functional analyst for the Technical Services division, working closely with stakeholders to understand business needs and apply technology solutions that drive efficiency and performance. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining reports, dashboards, and data visualizations to support data-driven decision-making. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of database structures, and experience working with enterprise asset management (EAM) systems like Maximo.
Responsibilities
- Maximo & Business Systems Management
- Contribute to the administration, configuration, and optimization of Maximo and related business systems.
- Recommend and drive process improvements and automation opportunities to enhance system efficiency.
- Ensure the system meets business needs while aligning with best practices.
- Data Analysis & Reporting:
- Develop, maintain, and optimize reports and dashboards using Power BI, BIRT, and other visualization tools.
- Write complex SQL queries for DB2, Snowflake, BIRT and other relational databases to extract and transform data.
- Analyze Maximo data to generate operational insights, track KPIs, and support business decisions.
- Design and develop automated reporting solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Business & System Analysis
- Conduct business gap analyses and evaluate system requirements.
- Develop and maintain project plans and deliverables to support system enhancements.
- Work closely with stakeholders to implement technology-driven solutions.
- Stakeholder Collaboration
- Maintain relationships with internal and external partners.
- Engage in system design, testing, and implementation cycles.
- User Support & Process Improvement
- Act as a liaison between business units and IT, ensuring effective communication and issue resolution.
- Identify and implement improvements to system functionality and data integrity.

- Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field; or a combination of education and experience.
- 3+ years of experience in reporting, data analysis, and business intelligence.
- Proficiency in SQL (DB2, Snowflake, or similar RDBMS) for data querying and analysis.
- Expertise in Power BI (or other BI tools) for dashboard and data visualization development.
- Experience working with ETL processes and integrating data from multiple sources.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Additional Requirements
- Experience in Maximo Application Suite (MAS8).
- Hands-on experience with Maximo data structures and BIRT report development.
- Knowledge of Python, R, or other scripting languages for data analysis.
- Experience with Maximo, database administration, and business analytics tools preferred.
- Experience with XML, JavaScript, Actuate, and relational database programming preferred.
- Familiarity with cloud-based data warehousing (e.g., AWS, Azure, Snowflake).
