Position Overview:
Onward Search is looking for a dedicated and passionate 6th Grade Special Education Co-Teacher (English) to join a school in Philadelphia, PA for a full-time, in-person position. This role starts in early March and continues through the end of the school year, with potential renewal for the next academic year.
Details You Should Know:
- Location: In-person (no hybrid/remote options)
- Schedule: Monday - Friday
- Hours: 37.5-40 hours/week
- Caseload: Co-teaching English in a 6th-grade classroom
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the general education teacher to provide specialized instruction and support in an inclusive English classroom.
- Adapt and modify lesson plans to meet the diverse learning needs of students with disabilities.
- Implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and monitor student progress.
- Utilize evidence-based strategies for behavior management and student engagement.
- Work closely with parents, support staff, and school administrators to create a positive learning environment.
- Assist in classroom accommodations and differentiation to ensure all students have access to the curriculum.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Valid Pennsylvania Special Education certification
- Experience co-teaching or working in an inclusive classroom setting preferred.
- Strong understanding of IEP implementation and progress monitoring.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
