We are looking for some one who loves teaching kids in early education with special education experience. Do you have 12 early education accredited college units with a course in infant toddler child development? Do you love working with kids with special needs in early education? Position Purpose
- Provide support to students with social-emotional and behavioral issues.
- Implement positive social-emotional and behavioral support plans.
- Participate in the Comprehensive Services and Quality Improvement team.
- Design and implement components of individual student programs.
Essential Duties
- Coach teachers in daily classroom activities and inclusion of all children.
- Provide personalized special services for children with disabilities.
- Maintain classroom management and interact with all children.
- Participate in classroom activities, field trips, and socializations.
- Advocate for the rights of children with Special Needs and their families.
- Support staff in implementing social-emotional and behavior management techniques.
- Maintain and update files of children with Special Needs.
- Complete monthly observations and record keeping.
- Attend staff meetings and professional development.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of child development, social-emotional and behavior management strategies, and positive interventions.
- Ability to establish cooperative relationships, implement support plans, and communicate effectively.
- Training and experience typically include an Associate's Degree in Child Development, Psychology, or related field with 12 ECE credits, and at least one year of experience working with children, including those with Special Needs.
- Bilingual in Spanish is highly desired.
Special Requirements
- Valid California driver's license and use of an automobile.
- Certification in pediatric first aid and CPR within 90 days of employment.
- Must meet state law and county licensing requirements for employment in a childcare center.
Physical and Mental Demands
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, use hands, reach, bend, kneel, grasp, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Use written and oral communication skills, read and interpret data, solve problems, perform detailed work, and interact with officials, staff, and the public.
Work Environment
- Typical office conditions with varying noise levels.
- Occasional contact with angry or agitated individuals.
