SUMMARY: The Special Education Itinerant Paraprofessional (SEIP) provides individual or group direct services to students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Services are provided on an itinerant basis, meaning the SEIP travels to the virtual educational setting where the child attends. The SEIP will provide direct services and monitor behavior and academic progress. SEIP services may be provided individually or in combination with one or more direct services. The SEIP assists students with special needs under the direction of a certified teacher with such tasks as daily classroom activities, assignment completion, and small group remediation of basic skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing of all responsibilities and/or duties required; other duties may be assigned. Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provides direct student supports in a virtual environment
  • Assists students with daily classroom activities, assignment completion, and small group remediation of basic skills as outlined in the students' IEP
  • Provide direct support to assigned students who may be aggressive or disruptive in class
  • Assist in collecting progress monitoring data of IEP goals
  • Read and respond to all emails within 24 hours (1 business day)
  • Attend and actively participate in all required professional meetings
  • Attend a minimum of 2 Parent University Sessions (1 Fall, 1 Spring)
  • Complete all required trainings
  • Participate in Face-to-Face testing location assignment
  • Comply with all written policies and procedures in GCA handbooks
  • Stay logged on to Zoom during working hours
  • Complete all Contributing Professional platform tasks and responsibilities during assigned timeframe
  • Any and all other duties as may be assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Two (2) years of completed college or technical school credit AND
  • Two (2) years of paraprofessional experience OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must hold or be eligible to hold a Georgia PSC approved clearance certificate
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES:
  • GaPSC Paraprofessional Certification
  • Enrollment in GTAPP program (Desired)
  • Clear Fingerprint/Background Check Required

  • Possess strong communication, organizational, analytical, math computation and written skills
  • Experience working with diverse student populations
  • Demonstrate initiative and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously within established deadlines
  • Ability to interact positively with teachers, administrators, and support staff
  • Ability to read and interpret student academic data and educational reports
  • Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms.
  • Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, as well as collaborate and communicate effectively within a team.
  • Strong work ethic, self-motivation and attention to detail.
  • Maintain a professional home office environment

  • Attend all required Professional Development sessions, trainings, and conferences.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Previous experience with online educational tools/curriculum/assessments
  • Familiar with Infinite Campus, Zoom, Canvas, Clever, or other online platforms
  • Knowledge of state and federal laws, and other pertinent laws regarding K-12 Education as they relate to applicable duties.

  • Work Schedule: This is primarily a Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM, 5 Days/Week, home-based position that may require traveling up to 25% of the time. In-office attendance may be required during critical periods. The noise level in the office is usually moderate (computers, printers, light foot traffic).
  • In-Person Attendance: In-person attendance at professional development, training, conferences, job fairs, meetings, school events, marketing events, and testing sites will be required several times per year.
  • Vision: (which may be corrected) to read small print; view a computer screen for prolonged periods.
  • Hearing: (which may be corrected) to answer telephones and tolerate exposure to noisy conditions.
  • Speech: to be understood in face-to-face or virtual communications; to speak with a level of proficiency and volume to be understood over a telephone and/or computer.
  • Upper Body Mobility: use hands and fingers to feel, grasp, and manipulate small objects; manipulate fingers, twist and bend at wrist and elbow; extend arms to reach outward and upward; use hands and arms to lift objects; turn, raise, and lower head.
  • Strength: to lift, push, pull and/or carry objects which weigh as much as 5 or more pounds on a frequent basis.
  • Environmental Requirements: encounter constant work interruptions; work cooperatively with others; work independently; work indoors.
