About the Job:

The Manager of Accounting plays a key leadership role within Foundation Medical Partners' Accounting Department. This position works closely with the Director of Accounting to supervise daily accounting operations, ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and support the integrity of the organization's financial processes. The Manager provides oversight, guidance, and mentorship to the accounting team while participating in core financial functions including reconciliations, audits, budget development, and internal controls.

What You'll Do:

Leadership and Team Management

  • Provide direct supervision to accounting staff, including assigning tasks, reviewing work for accuracy and compliance, and offering constructive feedback.
  • Foster a collaborative and accountable team environment that aligns with the organization's mission, vision, and values.
  • Serve as a resource for staff inquiries and issues, ensuring clear communication and resolution.

Accounting Operations

  • Prepare and maintain accurate schedules for all balance sheet accounts and monthly reconciliations, including bank statements.
  • Oversee quarterly balance sheet reconciliations and submit them for approval by the Director of Accounting.
  • Support the preparation and review of financial statements, ensuring they accurately reflect organizational performance.

Internal Controls and Compliance

  • Implement and maintain effective internal accounting controls to minimize risks related to fraud or errors.
  • Monitor and ensure adherence to GAAP, payroll regulations, and internal policies.

Auditing and Budgeting

  • Coordinate both interim and year-end audit processes, including the preparation of required documentation and audit work papers.
  • Participate in the organization's annual budgeting process by gathering, analyzing, and presenting relevant financial data.

Accounts Receivable and Payable

  • Manage non-patient accounts receivable (A/R), including invoicing based on current contracts, working with operational leaders on PSA arrangements, and ensuring timely collection of balances.
  • Collaborate with departments to ensure accurate general ledger postings for accounts receivable and payable.

Process Improvement

  • Regularly review and enhance accounting policies and procedures to increase efficiency and ensure consistency with industry best practices.
  • Lead initiatives to improve the department's performance and adaptability to organizational changes.

Who You Are / Requirements:

Education

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
  • Preferred: Master's degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance
  • CPA certification strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of professional accounting experience with increasing responsibility
  • Demonstrated experience in leading teams or managing accounting functions
  • Healthcare industry accounting experience preferred
  • In-depth understanding of GAAP and payroll regulations
  • Proficiency with financial systems and Microsoft Excel (intermediate level)
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple competing tasks
