Infection Prevention Specialist About the Job:
The Infection Prevention Specialist participates in the departmental planning process, collecting surveillance data based on organizational requirements and conducts analysis of the findings. The Infection Prevention Specialist prepares reports for committees and serves as an informational resource to multi-disciplinary performance improvement activities.
What You'll Do:
- Identify Healthcare Associated Infections (HAIs) based on established definitions and report all necessary HAIs and community-acquired infections to appropriate local, state, and national organizations.
- Provide training for hospital staff and volunteers on infection prevention procedures, while continuously monitoring infectious disease activity at local, national, and global levels.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory and accreditation standards related to Infection Prevention and address environmental factors that may promote disease transmission.
- Act as a subject matter expert on emerging infectious diseases, conduct outbreak investigations as needed, and engage in public speaking to educate personnel on relevant topics.
- Comply with reporting deadlines set by the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) and maintain effective communication with internal and external partners through various channels.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree a science-based health profession.
- Experience in Infection Control/Prevention in a healthcare setting required
- Certified in Infection Control or certification eligible. Must attain certification within 3 years of hire.
- Current professional licensure in the State of New Hampshire, if applicable.
