DFAD
Apply for this Job

DFAD is seeking a talented Sound Designer with great taste and proven experience in video game audio for two projects - an RPG and FPS. You should have a strong background in designing sound for weapon sfx, and animals/creatures. While you won't be responsible for full technical implementation, you must understand how to integrate sound into game engines, prepare audio assets, and work with FPSs and RPGs in-game. In this role, you'll design and polish audio that is hyperrealistic or fully realistic - no animation or cartoony. You'll work with our source recordings or record sources from scratch if needed. While you might sometimes help with studio maintenance or admin tasks, your main focus is sound design and supporting the audio team. If you're passionate about game audio, have hands-on experience, and thrive in fast-paced environments, get in touch.

Responsibilities (What You Will Do):

  • Record, design, and mix sounds for medieval weapons (axes/knives/swords), animals/creatures (non-humanoid), and gameplay elements.
  • Quickly iterate on audio ideas with audio directors and creative leads.
  • Prepare and organize audio assets for game pipelines (using spreadsheets).

Minimum Qualifications (Who You Are):

  • A deep passion for gaming, with extensive knowledge of game mechanics and a drive to push the industry forward.
  • 5+ years of sound design experience in the games industry, with at least one shipped midcore/AA title.
  • Strong understanding of signal processing, modular synths, and recording techniques.
  • Able to manage remote workflows and collaborate with distributed teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal English.
  • Available during North American PST business hours.
  • Have a sound design reel showcasing weapon sfx and/or animal (non-humanoid) work.
  • Proven ability to follow and maintain strict security protocols.
  • Bonus: A reel with interesting processing is a plus.
  • Bonus: Proficient in Wwise and DAWs (Reaper, Pro Tools).

Contract Length: 6 Months

This is a hybrid position open to candidates globally. Although most work can be performed remotely, an occasional onsite presence in Los Angeles for foley recording sessions may be necessary. Compensation will be determined based on local market conditions and legal requirements, with salary ranges tailored to each region. DFAD offers an inclusive work environment that fosters innovation, creativity, and professional growth. If this opportunity excites you as much as it does us, we'd love to meet you. Join us in creating worlds that move people.
