Solution Sales Engineer

This position pays between $100,000 and $150,000.
Pay for this position is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A commission plan, sign-on payment, and/or restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered by our client.
Job Description:
- Sell design solutions to customers who need custom designed and/or built prototypes - in industries such as semiconductor process equipment, automotive/EV, energy and batteries, aerospace, medical device, etc
- Persuade prospect clients and former customers to use design engineering services, selling the client on the benefits of using a very seasoned and highly experienced team of engineers, either as an external extension to the client's existing engineering team, or as a complete external engineering house solution.
- Convey the concept of the services to customers such as CEO's, VPs of Engineering, CTO's, Engineering Directors and Managers.
- Use a consultative approach of the benefits of the service company.
- (This is not an account manager position that involves selling 1 product or a bundle of already designed and manufactured products which are specific to 1 industry, and are already being sold in the marketplace as a mass-produced item/s.)
- Qualify new leads and existing or former relationships which need nurturing.
- Be the Relationship-Builder via phone calls, emails, email campaigns, technology, networking, etc
- Meet with other company's engineering team leaders, and assesses what the customer needs to be designed (eg, some type of large high-asset automation capital equipment, or test equipment, or machines).
- Client targets are start-ups to Fortuner 500 sized enterprise companies; either fast-growing tech companies or well-established product companies.
- Sell to clients nationwide, and to The San Francisco Bay Area.
- Help manage relationships with fast-moving equipment companies and manufacturing companies.
- Become the customer's trusted advisor and partner, who they will reply on for repeat business.
- Work with a fantastic team in this well-established company/leader in its industry.
Required/Desired:
- BS Degree in Engineering or related degree plus 5-15+ years of relevant experience.
- Preferably have sold or been a solutions provider from a design firm, design-build firm, low-volume/high-value CM (Contract Manufacturer), OEM, or from any company that separates its sales staff between sales engineers, solutions providers, account managers, sales reps, etc
- Must be able to manage large complex sales with high value.
- Must be technical enough to sell the value-add and benefits of using an outside firm to design and build custom prototypes - machines/systems/equipment.
- Automation Equipment experience is a big plus.
- Help to gain more exposure to some of Silicon Valley's/the world's best and most notable companies - world-class.
- Able to collaborate across all departments and functions of the company internally, and able to identify the best buying sources/prospects of external customer's departments.
- Preferred tract record and success selling conceptual products or services to executives.
- Must have a passion for providing solutions in a sales environment.
- Must enjoy technologies from multiple industries and be able to share the excitement and benefits message to customers.
- Enjoy product design and manufacturing organizations.
- Enjoy the challenge of selling into large enterprise accounts and start-ups.
- Help to build a stronger and more profitable organization, collaborating with the entire team up to C-Level.
- Proficient in CRM's and productivity applications, able to document well, and do timely follow-up.
- High-Energy, great personality, able to work with all kinds of people and share enthusiasm.
- Provides strong Customer Service and Customer Satisfaction by way of delivery.

- Able to travel as necessary (domestic and/or international) and perhaps attend a few annual key trade shows, but the emphasis of this role is meeting customers 1:1 vs skimming over contacts at trade shows or conventions.
