Position Overview

NBME is hiring a Software Quality Engineer III to help ensure the delivery of high-quality software that meets user needs through a disciplined and repeatable process. This remote, project-based position (18 to 24 months) empowers you to own the full QA lifecycle-from planning and testing to automation and user support-on highly complex applications that support the future of medical education.

This role has been designated as primarily remote, meaning it requires little to no onsite attendance. While this role can be designated as remote, you are offered the flexibility to select if you prefer to work primarily remotely, hybrid, or onsite. We're open to considering candidates in the following locations: Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Serve as a quality lead on large and complex software initiatives, ensuring the most effective testing strategies and tools are implemented to support the product vision and maximize impact
  • Demonstrate strong professional integrity, promoting a culture of quality and accountability across the team
  • Frequently lead by example, sharing advanced QA techniques, automation best practices, and newly acquired technical or business knowledge with peers
  • Collaborate with IT and business partners to translate requirements into detailed test strategies and plans
  • Adapt quickly to changing technical environments and deliver high-quality results within tight deadlines
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior and mid-level QA engineers, ensuring adherence to quality standards and best practices in testing
QUALIFICATIONS

Skills and Abilities
  • 5+ years of experience in software quality assurance, with a focus on both manual and automated testing
  • Extensive experience testing APIs (RESTful, GraphQL) using tools like Postman or Swagger
  • Hands-on experience with automated testing frameworks (Selenium, Playwright, etc.)
  • Familiarity with source control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD tools (e.g, GitHub Actions)
  • Deep understanding of SDLC, STLC, and Agile methodologies
  • Ability to collaborate with development teams and assume leadership responsibilities as needed, including working closely with the lead developer and system architect
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Education
  • Bachelor's degree required.

Compensation we are offering for this position is at $97,120 - $121,400 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
