WHEN & WHERE YOU'LL WORK:

This role will be a mix of in-office work at our corporate headquarters in Del Mar, CA and remote work. This position is expected to be in office 3 days per week but may vary depending on business demands.

A DAY IN THE LIFE:

We are looking for a skilled Software Tester with strong experience in mobile testing to join our QA team. This role involves a blend of manual testing and automation scripting focused on ensuring compatibility of our applications across iOS and Android devices.

You will play a critical role in validating app behavior with every major and minor release, ensuring that our software meets the highest standards of quality, performance, and user experience.

Software Mobile Test Engineers at Tandem are also responsible for:
  • Executing manual functional, regression, and compatibility testing across a wide range of iOS and Android devices.
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using JavaScript/TypeScript, Appium, and related tools.
  • Validating app behavior across different OS versions, device resolutions, and hardware configurations.
  • Performing testing for each major and minor revision of the mobile app.
  • Log, track, and retest defects in collaboration with developers and product managers.
  • Analyze and clearly document test results; communicate testing status, risks, and coverage to stakeholders.
  • Maintain up-to-date test documentation and contribute to test planning and estimation.
  • Participate in continuous improvement of testing strategies, tools, and processes.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
  • 3+ years of experience in mobile application testing (manual and automation).
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
    • Manual testing on real iOS and Android devices
    • Appium for mobile automation
    • JavaScript or TypeScript test frameworks (e.g., WebDriverIO, Mocha, Jasmine)
  • Solid understanding of mobile app lifecycle, OS behavior, and device-specific nuances.
  • Experience testing on multiple OS versions and devices.
  • Familiarity with bug tracking and test case management tools (e.g., JIRA, TestRail).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, work ethics, and ownership of quality.
EXTRA AWESOME:
  • Experience integrating automation with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
  • Knowledge of REST APIs and backend validation.
  • Exposure to performance or accessibility testing of mobile apps.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

The starting base pay range for this position is $38.08 - 47.64 per hour. Base pay will vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and may also fluctuate depending on candidate's location and the overall job market. In addition to base pay, Tandem offers a competitive compensation package that includes bonus and a robust benefits package.
