About the role
We are seeking a Software Engineer to join our team in Rotterdam.
This is a part-time position (approximately 3 days per week). Freelancers (zzp'ers) are welcome to apply.
This role suits a self-steering, positive thinker who thrives in uncertainty and is passionate about developing software for regulated, high-impact environments.
You will be working across the full lifecycle of product development, from requirements definition through to coding, testing and release -in close collaboration with industrial designers, hardware developers and systems engineers. Every project is different, so adaptability and curiosity are key.
Your skills and experience
- 3+ years' experience in software development, ideally within medical, safety-critical or high-complexity product environments
- A degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related field
- Skilled in C and Python
- Experience with Java, Kotlin or Swift is a plus
- Comfortable coding for different platforms: PC/Mac/Linux/mobile/embedded
- Experience working with hardware interfaces: Bluetooth, USB, sensors, control outputs
- Understanding of UI/UX principles and integration
- Familiar with software development lifecycle: architecture, requirements, coding, deployment
- Knowledge of working under a Quality Management System (ISO13485, ISO9001, GMP or equivalent)
- Experience collaborating in multidisciplinary teams (e.g. mechanical, electrical, regulatory)
- Bonus: experience in server-side scripting, authentication & security
