The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with a robust Information Technology (IT) and Software Development background to join our team. The ideal candidate will have successfully managed large-scale projects and possess a proven track record of delivering high quality results on time and within budget. The candidate should be familiar with and understand the product lifecycle phases from initiation through delivery. This project manager supports the Command-and-Control Project Management Office. The Project Manager will be responsible for the coordination of work on the Launch Control System. We are seeking an innovative and results-driven applicant to join our dynamic team. Responsibilities:

As a Project Manager for the Kennedy Space Center Launch Control Center, you will:

- Lead Delivery Efforts by overseeing activities related to the delivery of subsystem hardware for the Launch Control Center, enabling spacecraft and vehicle processing, testing, checkout, and launch operations.

- Drive Project Success by utilizing your project management expertise to oversee performance, scope, schedule, budget, risk, and change management throughout the project lifecycle.

- Manage Change and Innovation by performing change assessments, lead change board approvals, and manage software/hardware modifications and sustaining engineering.

- Build High-Performing Teams to address emerging requirements, ensuring standardized processes and resource alignment across the Command and Control portfolio.

- Develop and Maintain Schedules by creating project schedules and resource plans to capture every step of the project lifecycle, ensuring timely and efficient execution.

- Create Impactful Artifacts by preparing essential project deliverables, such as planning documents, status reports, and project briefs, to keep stakeholders informed and aligned.

- Proactively Manage Risks by identifying, assessing, and implementing mitigation strategies to minimize risks and keep projects on track.

- Facilitate Collaboration to organize and document project team meetings, fostering collaboration and alignment among stakeholders.

- Conduct Assessments by coordinating and performing thorough project evaluations to ensure goals are being met and identify opportunities for improvement.

- Strategize and Innovate by participating in management planning to optimize operations, set ambitious yet achievable goals, and redefine objectives to align with organizational priorities.

- Support Excellence by continuously looking for ways to improve processes, increase efficiency, and drive innovation.

- Additional Responsibilities may be assigned as needed to support organizational and project objectives.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience). A combination of advanced education and relevant experience will be considered.

- At least 4 years of progressive experience in project management, with a proven track record of delivering complex projects successfully. (May also be filled at a level 3, BS Degree in computer or system science, information technology, engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university and a minimum of ten (10) years of direct progressive and relevant experience. Additional relevant education may be substituted for a portion of the experience.)

- Strong understanding of Project Management principles, CMMI, VersionOne, and software change management processes (preferred).

- Experience in hardware/software development, systems engineering, or project management in the Aerospace industry is highly desirable.

- Certifications like PMP, Scrum Master, or similar are a plus.

- Proficiency in industry-standard tools, including MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project, and MS PowerPoint.

- Knowledge of Power BI is a bonus.

Physical Requirements:

- Will be required to climb stairs to access equipment for trouble shooting.

- Will be required to wear hearing protection, eye protection and other associated personal protective equipment.

- Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.

- Physical requirements are sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures.

- Position is located on a hazardous testing facility; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency.

Work Environment:

- Will be required to work inside and outside throughout the test complex.

- Position may require daily individual to travel to different areas on site.

- Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand is required to access various locations on the facility.

- Climbing ladders and platforms may be necessary.

- All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and Company safety standards.

Equipment and Machines:

- Computers and printers used for producing reports and schedules.

- Variety of equipment used in testing.

Attendance:

- Full-time regular work hours between Monday-Friday.

- Position may require overtime including weekend work depending on task.

- Must be dependable and punctual.

- Shift work may be required.

Other Essential Functions:

- If offered a position, proof of U.S. Citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident/Green Card holder of the United States is required.

- Must be able to accurately communicate ideas in writing and verbal communication.

- Must be able to travel to support position requirements. This may include travel to and from customer location, which may involve airline travel. In some cases, accommodations can be made for POV, if necessary.

- Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.

- Must comply with all "drug free workplace" requirements as mandated by directives issued by the appropriate federal contracting officer and the company, which requires drug testing for use of illegal drugs by employees in sensitive positions.
