SOFTWARE ENGINEER Rockville, MD (hybrid) PTFS is a leader in digital content management solutions, content digitization, and library services/solutions, serving more than 500 organizations around the world. Job Overview: The Software Engineer is a role that encompasses advanced troubleshooting, quality assurance, design, and implementation of applications and programs. The individual will lead a group, working closely with project leads or managers to plan and accomplish goals, and will also assist in Scrum ceremonies and Agile process improvements. Key Responsibilities: Engineering and Development:
• Lead advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving initiatives for complex systems.
• Design robust software solutions and oversee implementation, ensuring high-quality standards.
• Mentor and supervise the work of junior engineers, programmers, technologists, and other personnel.
• Consult with customers and stakeholders on advanced software system design and maintenance. Project and Team Leadership:
• Work closely with project leads or managers in strategic planning and setting long-range objectives.
• Provide guidance and expert advice on technical, systems, or process-related topics.
• Coordinate software system installation and monitor equipment functioning to meet specifications.
• Recommend purchases of equipment and software to optimize development and test environments. Qualifications and Education Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience: 5+ years of experience with strong proficiency in Java and J2EE environment, including extensive knowledge in web and middleware application development. Preferred Skills:
• Advanced skills in designing and building web pages using HTML, JavaScript, CSS, XML, XSLT.
• In-depth experience with Struts framework, preferably Struts 2.11.
• Proficient in Java, J2EE, JSP, XML, SQL, Struts, Spring, Hibernate, JDBC, ESB, XML Beans, XPath, Web Services, XSD, SOA, LDAP, Security, SSO, JUnit, Eclipse, Maven, Oracle.
• Strong understanding of interface design principles and experience in creating accessible and 508 compliant sites.
• Experience in Agile methodologies, with a focus on Scrum processes. Working Conditions/Physical Factors:
• Primarily assigned to customer contracts with performance based at corporate locations or customer sites.
