Software Engineer with Security Clearance

ClearanceJobs is assisting our Colorado Springs client with their search for a Software Engineer for an onsite position at Schriever Space Force Base in Colorado Springs. This is an exciting opportunity to work support the U.S. Missile Defense System through the development of modeling and simulation applications used in warfighter training and exercises, concept evaluation, developmental engineering, testing and verification, and assessment. A minimum of active Secret Security Clearance is required. Responsibilities: The Software Engineer primary duties are to support the Missile Defense Space Warning Tool (MDST) project as part of the WSS (Warfighter Simulations and Services) team.

• Responsible for designing and developing software to model various Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) element capabilities.

• Design, develop, test, document, and integrate features using C and/or Java programming language hosted on a Linux operating system.

• Work in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels. Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 2 years of related experience

• Experience developing software in object-oriented programming languages such as C, C , or Java.

• Understanding of a software development life cycle. Experience with Agile a plus.

• Active Secret clearance required to start Preferred Skills:
• Proficient in Java or C within a Linux environment

• Experience in Atlassian Tool Suite

• Strong, written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills to collaborate effectively with technical teams and customer personnel.

• Knowledge or experience in several of the following: missile defense domain knowledge, infrared space surveillance, and modeling and simulation development.
• Experience in agile software development methodologies like Scrum or Kanban.
