Full Job Description: We are looking for someone to join us on a new project developing an innovative set of tools to retrofit network infrastructure with integrity enforcement to provide additional system resilience. The role incorporates main focus areas in network device firmware reverse engineering, analysis platform software development, architecture and system emulation, and embedded software engineering. This role will be part of a team split between Kudu's Ohio and Virginia offices looking to demonstrate capabilities to our Sponsors. The role will be filled with someone able to apply multiple skill sets and reach a prototype software deployment at the conclusion of the effort. Responsibilities Include: Reverse engineering network devices and network device firmware Conducting experiments on network systems and constructing network traffic to evaluate discrete network operations Strengthening network devices with custom mitigation techniques to discover and halt cyber kill-chain activities Critically analyzing, interpreting, and communicating results and providing recommendations for future improvement efforts Developing tools to analyze network device operation and deploy protection countermeasures Developing tools to analyze firmware, extract relevant information, and process artifacts for further processing Minimum Qualifications: Experience with one or more assembly languages (PowerPC, x86/x64, MIPS, ARM, etc) Experience with software development and testing in Python, C/C , Rust, etc Experience with one or more disassemblers (Ghidra, IDA, Binary Ninja, etc) Experience with modern exploitation techniques and mitigations (ASLR, DEP/NX, etc) Experience analyzing network traffic and protocols Nice-to-have Qualifications: Experience with hardware and firmware reverse engineering Experience with real-time embedded operating systems systems Experience with platforms performing automated vulnerability analysis Experience working with JTAG and hardware interfaces to introspect system operations Experience building or customizing emulation platforms for non-x86/x64 architectures Benefits: Equity at a company that is doing dynamic, fun, meaningful, and interesting work.
