About the Role

We're seeking an experienced Software Engineer to support the development of complex mission software. As a key member of our team, you'll take ownership of software development activities, apply agile methods, and collaborate with various engineering disciplines and customers. Your expertise will guide software requirements development, architecture, design, implementation, and testing.

Responsibilities

Participate in embedded software development and/or software test activities

Support the architecture and detailed design of individual Command and Control Systems (CSCs) and Command and Control System Interfaces (CSCIs)

Be an integral part of an Agile development team, conducting Agile Release Planning, Sprint Planning, and guiding agile development execution

Lead by example, demonstrating accountability and follow-through on timely delivery of assignments

Independently learn new tools and identify opportunities for improvement in current processes, implementing new processes as needed

Technical Skills

Experience with C/C , Python, WindRiver, and Linux OS, as well as Object-Oriented design

Strong ability to work in a highly collaborative environment with frequent and direct interaction with various engineering disciplines and customers

Ability to work under technical direction with considerable autonomy in determining technical objectives and approaches

Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking skills

Security Requirements

Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Basic Qualifications:

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following requirements:

Education: Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering discipline (such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field)

Experience: Demonstrable experience in embedded space flight software engineering or a related technical discipline

Technical Skills: Ability to design software solutions to address complex problems

Communication and Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong social skills, and ability to build consensus among peers while fostering solid relationships across Agile Development Teams

Agile Methodologies: Comfortable working in an Agile Scrum environment

Security Clearance: Must have an active Top Secret (TS) security clearance

Desired Skills:

While not required, the following skills and experiences are highly desirable for this role:

Embedded Systems Expertise: Knowledge of embedded systems architectures and test experience using embedded systems

Agile Development: Demonstrated experience using Agile methodology in the development, integration, and test of complex software systems and environments

Program Management: Proven ability to manage and control schedule, scope, and cost on challenging programs

Agile Project Execution: Experience executing projects using Agile processes and tools

Programming Skills: Programming background in C/C , Python, or other relevant languages

Process Improvement: Experience leading process improvement initiatives to drive efficiency and effectiveness

Program Lifecycle Management: Experience with program lifecycle execution, from concept phase through end-of-life phase

Collaborative Environment: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic, and multi-disciplinary environment

System-of-Systems Architecture: Familiarity with software architecture and software design as part of a system-of-systems

Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $89,300 - $157,550. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

This position is incentive plan eligible.
