Matlab Engineer
Job Title: LabVIEW & MATLAB Test Engineer
Location: Santa Clara, California
Department: Test Engineering/R&D
Position Summary:
We are seeking a Test Engineer with hands-on experience in LabVIEW and MATLAB to support the development and execution of automated test systems for medical devices. This role will focus on lab-based test setups and systems integration for validation and verification of catheter-based and other electro-mechanical systems. You will work in a collaborative R&D environment, supporting product development and system testing.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot LabVIEW-based automated test systems
Implement data acquisition and control systems for product validation
Use MATLAB for data analysis, signal processing, and reporting
Interface with test instruments (oscilloscopes, DAQs, pressure transducers, etc.)
Execute test protocols and document test results per medical device standards
Collaborate with R&D engineers to define test setups and requirements
Maintain accurate lab documentation, wiring schematics, and equipment logs
Preferred Backgrounds:
Prior roles as: Test Engineer, Lab Technician, LabVIEW Developer, Test Systems Engineer, or R&D Technician
Successful candidates have come from medical device or industrial automation backgrounds
Prior internship or early-career experience in test engineering roles highly valued
Qualifications:
Associate&s or Bachelor&s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Biomedical Engineering, or related field
2+ years experience with LabVIEW in a hands-on lab setting (CLAD/CLD certifications a plus)
Proficient in MATLAB for data analysis and visualization
Familiar with common lab test equipment (oscilloscopes, signal generators, DAQ systems)
Experience in developing automated test procedures
Understanding of basic electronics, circuits, and instrumentation
Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with engineering teams
Comfortable with light Scripting or test control logic (no heavy programming required)
Nice to Have (But Not Required):
Exposure to Python, C , or similar languages for test automation
Familiarity with medical device regulations (ISO 13485, FDA QSR)
Experience using National Instruments TestStand
Hands-on experience with mechanical test fixtures and sensors
