Lead Backend Engineer - Core Banking Modernization
Location: Remote / Hybrid (U.S. Based)

We're hiring a Lead Backend Engineer to drive the architecture and delivery of key components for a next-generation core banking platform. In this role, you'll help guide a team of developers, working closely with product, security, and infrastructure partners to automate workflows, improve performance, and shape the future of digital banking.
What You'll Do:
- Lead design and development for cloud-native services within a core modernization initiative
- Manage a team of engineers building microservices that support automation, compliance, and system reliability
- Partner with cross-functional teams including product, UX, and enterprise architects to ensure successful delivery of robust backend services
- Serve as a technical mentor, helping to elevate engineering practices and foster innovation
- Remain hands-on with code and system architecture decisions when needed, ensuring alignment to enterprise standards
- Apply Agile best practices to deliver high-quality, scalable systems iteratively
️ Tools & Technologies:
- Programming: Java, Go, Python, Node.js, Scala
- Cloud: AWS (preferred), Azure, or GCP
- Databases: PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, other RDBMS/NoSQL
- DevOps & Containerization: Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD tools
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent
- 4+ years of backend software engineering experience
- 1+ year of hands-on experience with public cloud (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
Preferred Experience:
- Master's degree in a technical discipline
- 7+ years in backend development with Java, Go, or similar languages
- 2+ years working with cloud services (e.g., ECS, Lambda, S3)
- 4+ years using open-source frameworks in microservices architecture
- Experience mentoring developers or managing small engineering teams
- Proven history working within Agile/SAFe development environments
