Job Posting Nashville, TN-based Software Engineer This position is NOT remote Summary BCH is seeking a talented and detail-oriented WordPress/PHP Developer with experience in creating interactive designs to join our team. As a WordPress Developer, you will be responsible for designing and developing high-quality WordPress websites with engaging user interactions and seamless functionalities. Your role will involve bringing visually appealing and interactive websites to life, using your expertise in web development and interactive design. In addition, you should possess excellent verbal communication skills to effectively explain technical concepts to non-technical individuals. Familiarity with PHP and the ability to work with custom code are essential for this role, as some parts of the web app are built with custom PHP.
Duties and Responsibilities - Develop and maintain WordPress websites with a focus on interactive and engaging user experiences.
- Implement custom designs using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, while ensuring cross-browser compatibility and responsiveness.
- Install, configure, and customize WordPress themes and plugins to enhance website functionality and enable interactive features.
- Develop interactive components and features using JavaScript to provide seamless user interactions.
- Write custom PHP code and work with existing custom PHP code to extend the functionality of WordPress websites and integrate with the web app.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to WordPress websites, plugins, themes, and interactive functionalities.
- Optimize websites for search engines (SEO) and implement necessary on-page optimizations for improved performance.
- Ensure websites are mobile-friendly and provide consistent user experiences across different devices.
- Stay up to date with the latest WordPress updates, plugins, and trends in web development to continuously improve website performance and interactivity.
- Collaborate with management to gather requirements, provide technical insights, and deliver solutions that meet project objectives.
- Effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical team members and stakeholders, facilitating a clear understanding of project needs and progress updates.
Requirements - Nashville, TN based - onsite.
- Proven work experience as a WordPress Developer.
- Strong proficiency in WordPress, including theme and plugin development, customization, and troubleshooting.
- Proficient in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for implementing custom designs and interactive functionalities.
- Experience in creating custom WordPress themes and plugins from scratch.
- Experience with creating interactive designs and a solid understanding of UX/UI principles.
- Solid understanding of web standards, cross-browser compatibility, and responsive design principles.
- Familiarity with PHP and ability to work with custom PHP code to extend WordPress functionality and integrate with existing web app.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
- Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical individuals in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to work independently, managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Experience with gamification and other user engagement concepts.
- Understanding of website performance optimization techniques.
- Design capabilities are a plus.
Education and Experience - Undergraduate degree preferred in relate field
- At least 3 years of experience
- Zoom, Cisco WebEx and Microsoft Teams virtual meeting platforms (not required but very helpful)
Other Requirements - Work location is onsite (2 days of remote work per month)
- Minimal travel
Compensation - Salary - based on experience
- Probationary bonus (upon successful completion), mid-year bonus and year-end bonus (depending on start date)
