Overview:

We are looking for an early career Software Engineer to join our growing Business Application IT team to build and lead modern data platforms to support our Talcott Investment Data Analytics Platform. A software engineer is both creative and a problem-solver, responsible for building Software Development or Software Integration solutions for set of Applications understanding the business needs. A senior software engineer must have an array of technical skills and should be confident using technologies like Power BI or other visualization tools, SQL, and Python is a plus. Experience with Azure DevOps Software is nice to have. Knowledge Agile/Scrum methodologies is a plus. This role requires adherence to a hybrid schedule at our Hartford, Connecticut office.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Participate in application development efforts; includes coding, testing, debugging and documentation per technical design specifications.
  • Has expertise in most Talcott key technologies such as Power BI, Microsoft SQL Server, Python.
  • Enforces adherence to the Talcott software development lifecycle and security policies.
  • Responsible to ensure viable solution options are considered and ensures detail design specifications are completed (review and sign-off).
  • Ensures appropriate documentation of technical issues including impact assessment, root cause, and resolution.
  • Analyze, design, and develop software programs to automate data feeds.
  • Provide ongoing maintenance, support and enhancements in existing systems and platforms.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with business users, project managers and other engineers to achieve elegant solutions.
  • Provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Work alongside other engineers on the team to elevate technology and consistently apply best practices.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
  • Hands-on experience in data modeling and visualization techniques in Power BI and working with modern programming languages like SQL, Python, etc.
  • Ability to gather and analyze data requirements for reports.
  • Experience with Scrum/Agile development methodologies.
  • Capable of delivering on multiple competing priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Compensation

The annualized base pay range is mainly based on an evaluation of comparable positions in the external market. The actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range. The base pay is based on factors including but not limited to experience, competence, and demonstration of proficiencies essential for the role. The base pay is just one component of Talcott's total annual compensation for employees. Other compensation may include annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$85,000 - $120,000
