Job Title: Software Engineer
Reports To: Director, Medicare Advantage Technical Services

Please Note: This position is only open to candidates currently residing in Indiana, specifically the Columbus and Indianapolis areas. At this time, we are unable to offer visa sponsorship.

Summary:

The Software Engineer is a mid to entry-level position responsible for contributing to the development, maintenance, and support of software applications within the Medicare Advantage Technical Services department. This role requires a foundational understanding of .NET development, SQL databases, and a strong aptitude for learning and growth. The Software Engineer will participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and production support. This position will involve a blend of application development, database management, data transmission management, and contributions to project management activities. Experience with Microsoft Azure, Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and NoSQL databases is highly valued.

Brief Description of Duties:
  • Application Development: Design, develop, and maintain .NET applications, adhering to coding standards and best practices.
  • Database Management: Develop and maintain SQL database schemas, stored procedures, and queries. Manage and optimize data transmissions.
  • Production Support: Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, providing timely and effective solutions.
  • SDLC Management: Participate in all phases of the SDLC, including requirements gathering, analysis, design, development, testing, and deployment.
  • Testing: Develop and execute unit tests, integration tests, and system tests to ensure software quality.
  • Analysis and Design: Participate in the analysis of user requirements and the design of software solutions.
  • Project Management: Contribute to project planning, execution, and reporting.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation, including design documents, user manuals, and release notes.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate with team members, stakeholders, and end-users.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and industry trends.
  • Azure (Preferred): Assist in the deployment and management of applications in the Microsoft Azure cloud environment.
  • Azure DevOps (Preferred): Utilize Azure DevOps for source control, build automation, and release management.
  • CI/CD Pipelines (Preferred): Contribute to the development and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines for automated software delivery.
  • NoSQL Databases (Preferred): Work with and implement NoSQL database solutions.
Minimum Skills Requirement:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems (CIS), Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in .NET framework (C preferred).
  • Strong understanding of SQL databases and query languages.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript, VBScript, XML, and JSON.
Preferred:
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud platform.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with software testing methodologies.
  • Understanding of web services and APIs.
  • Exposure to version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).
