Pay: $43-54/hr
Must-Haves:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical/ Computer Engineering
- 3+ years of experience in firmware development/ unit testing of Linux-based embedded devices, preferably using ARM 32-bit architecture
- 2+ years of experience in unit test case/framework development for IoT device and edge for connectivity with a cloud backend using C or Python 3.0 for ARM target platforms
- 5+ years of experience in coding, testing, and debugging in C and Linux, preferably with ARM devices
- Bash scripting experience
- Experience with integration testing in automation devices with edge devices and cloud and mobile applications
Plusses:
- Experience with ARM 64-bit architecture
- Experience with Embedded UI in embedded C, C and familiarity with UI frameworks like Qt, GTK.
- LVGL, Storyboard, and developing automation scripts to test Embedded UI is an added plus
- Experience in integration testing in automation device with edge device and to cloud and mobile app
- Experience with cybersecurity best practices related to Linux/C based development libraries
- Expertise in developing, testing and utilizing RESTful APIs or gRPC
- Familiarity with Embedded systems multitasking patterns, IPC mechanisms like shared memory, pipes and sockets, semaphores, multithreading and synchronization in C Linux environment
Day to Day:
Insight Global is seeking an Edge / Gateway Software Automation / Test Engineer to work in a hybrid setting for a client in Apex, NC. In this role, you will work with a team that is responsible for the design, definition, implementation, and delivery of the unit test automation framework at the edge. This role owns the edge device firmware unit test automation framework and test script development to holistically test firmware, applications, and interfaces running on edge devices.
- Design, definition, implementation, and delivery of the unit test automation framework at the edge.
- Own the development and maintenance of the edge device firmware unit test automation framework and test scripts.
- Conduct holistic reviews of feature sets and code architecture, translating them into test automation enhancements.
- Baseline test cases to optimize test automation code coverage and accuracy, ensuring firmware and software quality assurance.
- Develop technical unit test requirements and design documents for firmware validation.
- Collaborate globally with firmware developers and other QA resources to ensure industry best practices in design, security, testability, and support.
- Develop automated execution and reporting within the CI/CD pipeline to enable seamless handoff to global software quality assurance teams.
- Ensure alignment and allocation of global resources to execute on project deliverables and commitments.
