A lot of our work is focused on our clients' interactions with security or their financial plan. The applications we develop enable users to register, log in, and progress toward their goals. Our work interacts with NM's access management and planning services groups to facilitate this. We aim to bridge the gap for the user.

We are looking for an experienced software engineer who can facilitate thoughtful connections between these teams, both interpersonally and technically. This engineer will have the ability to craft solutions, communicate clearly, and execute on designs.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain JavaScript and TypeScript React applications.
  • Write thoughtful Jest unit tests and Playwright end-to-end tests.
  • Deploy applications via GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
  • Review and test teammates' work.
  • Collaborate with product manager, teammates, and other teams.
  • This candidate may:
    • Build and edit NodeJS, Apollo GraphQL, and REST backend services.
    • Interact with MySQL databases.
    • Mentor junior developers.
Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of JavaScript, React, Front End development.
  • Optional familiarity with TypeScript, Redux, GraphQL, Node, MySQL, and Back End development.
  • 4+ years of experience as a Software Engineer.
  • Demonstrated commitment to high quality code, testing, and ownership.
  • Experience with modern development tools, agile practices, and CI/CD.


Compensation Range:

Pay Range - Start:

$92,750.00

Pay Range - End:

$172,250.00

Northwestern Mutual pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement in the salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. At Northwestern Mutual, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
