Software Engineer/Architect

Overview:

JHNA is seeking a talented Software Engineer to join our team in Alexandria, VA, providing specialized engineering support to the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OUSD(R&E and the Systems Engineering and Architectures (SE&A) Directorate. This position is a hybrid support role with an average of 2-3 days per week on site at the Mark Center Building in Alexandria, VA.

Job Responsibilities:
  • System Architecture and Requirements:
  • Analyze user and system requirements to recommend optimal system architectures.
  • Assist in designing comprehensive system specifications that align with industry standards, ensuring user needs are met through collaborative efforts with the site software engineering team.
  • Software Development:
  • Develop and maintain software within a DevOps or DevSecOps framework, emphasizing automation in CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins and GitLab.
  • Design, code, install, and maintain software systems. This includes setting up test requirements, executing tests to validate system performance, and documenting software systems thoroughly.
  • Agile Development:
  • Implement agile methodologies to continuously assess and improve team performance in software development.
  • Support and Documentation:
  • Create detailed software system architectures and models for operational clarity.
  • Support in creating presentations, briefings, charts, and various office documents.
Required Qualifications:
  • Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen with an Active Top Secret with SCI eligibility required.
  • A Bachelor's degree in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline relevant to the position.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 7 years engineering experience
  • Proficient in modern programming languages such as Java, C , JavaScript, or Python.
  • Experience with database technologies including SQL and NoSQL.
  • Familiarity with web frameworks like Flask, React, or Node.js.
  • Practical knowledge in using containerization tools (e.g., Docker).
  • Experience with test-driven development practices.
  • Proficient use of version control systems, particularly Git.
Desired Qualifications:
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect
  • Minimum 7 years experience in engineering/development.
  • A Master's degree in a related engineering, scientific, or technical field.
