Position Overview: Edgesource is actively hiring for Software / DevOps Engineers who will be at the forefront of ensuring the reliability, observability, and operational excellence of our software systems. You will be on a team of other DevOps and Software Engineers who's goal is to build, manage, and maintain large-scale, distributed software applications. Your focus will be on monitoring, performance optimization, and ensuring the stability and scalability of our infrastructure and applications. This role can support a hybrid work schedule, with duties being performed 3 days per week onsite in the Chantilly, VA area. Job Duties: Software Development: Design and Implementation of large scale software services. Preferred is the ability to do this in Python. Software Testing: Ability to write Unit/Integration/Load Testing. Observability and Monitoring: Oversee the design and implementation of observability solutions using technologies like Grafana and Prometheus. Ensure comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting for all services. Reliability and Performance: Ensure high availability and performance of services. Conduct capacity planning, performance tuning, and root cause analysis for incidents. Implement and maintain service level objectives (SLOs) and service level indicators (SLIs). Operational Excellence: Develop and enforce best practices for incident management, post-incident reviews, and on-call rotations. Optimize and automate operational processes to improve efficiency and reliability. Hands-On Contributions: Actively participate in code reviews, design discussions, and hands-on development. Contribute to the creation and maintenance of infrastructure as code (IaC) and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with product owners, managers, and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on technical and business objectives. Facilitate clear and effective communication across teams to drive project completion. Security and Compliance: Ensure that all systems are secure and compliant with industry standards. Implement security best practices and conduct regular audits and assessments. Strategic Planning: Participate in strategic planning to define technical direction and achieve business objectives. Drive initiatives to enhance the reliability, scalability, and observability of our systems. Required Qualifications: Possess an active TS/SCI security clearance 5+ years of experience in software development or site reliability engineering 2+ years of experience as the senior engineer on a team Experience with Python Experience with service-oriented architecture and distributed systems Proficiency in observability tools and practices Hands-on experience in coding, triaging tickets, and resolving operational issues Desired Qualifications (NOT REQUIRED): Deep understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code Experience Angular/Postgres/Nifi/MongoDB/Airflow Experience with agile development methodologies Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Cloud and Security+ certifications Working at Edgesource: As an ISO 9001:2015 certified and CMMI Level 3 appraised small business, Edgesource specializes in providing a variety of technical solutions to include software development, database services, enterprise networking, data center virtualization, and management support.
