About the Role We're looking for a Software Development Engineer in Test in our Quality Engineering Team to collaborate and implement, develop and maintain Fivetran's test automation tools and framework using reliable and scalable techniques.
As a SDET in our development team, you will focus on solving complex testing difficulties by designing, developing and improving automation and reporting frameworks. You will invest in improving test stability and performance of the framework by developing innovative solutions to boost Fivetran's testing efficiency. The SDET focuses on contributing to the development of automated Functional Integration tests and end-to-end tests for overall system testing within an Agile environment. The ideal candidate will be highly technical, detail-oriented, creative, motivated, and focused on achieving results.
This is a full-time, hybrid position based out of our Oakland, CA office.

What You'll Do - Develop a deep expertise of Fivetran's Product, Infrastructure and Platform.
- Work closely with software developers to create software testing artifacts including test plans, test cases, test procedures and test reports.
- Reproduce, debug, and isolate problems and verify fixes.
- Work in cross functional areas with internal partner engineering teams in a disciplined agile environment.
- Review requirements, specifications and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback.
- Create and maintain automated test cases, execute test suites, review and diagnose reported bugs, and ensure overall system quality prior to a customer release.
- Actively engage with fellow engineers to ensure we are delivering tools that make product development easier.
- Communicate, coordinate and align automation strategy with the engineering team members, make recommendations to improve reliability, performance, best practices and processes.
Skills We're Looking For - 3+ years of experience in the software industry with passion for quality and automation in Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) role.
- Strong knowledge and experience with OOP in Java.
- Experience in working on non UI and API test automation frameworks.
- Experience in developing different levels of automated tests, such as functional tests, integration tests, system tests.
- Experience in developing test plans, test cases, and executing tests for the complex features of the product.
- Hands on experience in configuring and monitoring test jobs in CI/CD pipeline.
