I. POSITION OBJECTIVES

1. Assess and Translate User Requirements:
Evaluate user stories and requirements.
Translate these requirements into technical tasks and actionable code.

2. Full Stack Development:
Perform full stack development using Rational Application Developer.
Utilize technologies such as Enterprise Java Beans (EJBs), Java Struts framework, HTML5, XML, JSON, JavaScript (jQuery, Bootstrap), Apache Ant, and SVN.

3. User Access and Workflow Functionality:
Develop and enhance user access functionalities.
Implement workflow processes within the existing application.

4. Reporting and Dashboarding:
Create and improve reporting and dashboard functionalities.
Ensure these features meet the business needs of the Division of Workers' Compensation (DWC).

5. Database Views for Business Intelligence:
Develop database views for use in Tableau.
Support comprehensive agency business intelligence needs.

6. Technical and User Documentation:
Write and maintain technical documentation.
Create user documentation as needed.

7. Agile Scrum Participation:
Actively participate in agile scrum team activities.
Attend regular meetings, work sessions, and interact with business owners and project team members.

8. Virtual Collaboration:
Work effectively in a virtual collaborative setting.
Demonstrate self-starting abilities and contribute to the agile scrum development team.

9. Presentation Skills:
Utilize strong written and oral presentation skills.
Present work done in the application to stakeholders effectively.

10. Legacy Modernization Efforts:

Focus on workflows, business processes, and other functionalities identified as part of the legacy modernization effort.

Years Required / Preferred Experience

8 Required - Working as a software developer on software application development projects, either as enhancements or ground-up initiatives

8 Required Coding using the following tools: Rational Application Developer (or other Eclipse-based IDE),
Enterprise Java Beans (EJBs), Java Struts framework, HTML5, XML, JSON, JavaScript (jQuery, Bootstrap),
browser-based debugging tools, Apache Ant, SVN (or other

8 Required - Eliciting requirements from end users and forming epics and user stories, then translating
them to functional tasks for technical staff

8 Required - Following requirements and user stories end-to-end to guarantee proper delivery of
requested functionality

8 Required - Testing applications to ensure user requirements are met 4 Required Writing technical
documentation

3 Required - Using Microsoft Teams or other collaboration tool to communicate and work within a
team

3 Required - Working on an agile scrum team as a software developer

3 Required - Estimating work and sizing tasks for sprint development

1 Required - Working as a software developer with Texas Department of Insurance applications

4 Preferred - Writing user documentation
