Sod Farm Manager

Green Grass Farms is seeking a Sod Farm Manager to oversee our day-to-day operations of our brand new 250-acre farm in Arcadia, FL . Green Grass Farms is a large, continually growing, multi-site sod operation with locations from Alabama to Central Florida. With five individual sod farms, they deliver high-quality turfgrass to homeowners and commercial clients. We lead in agricultural innovation, seamlessly blending tradition with advanced technology. Green Grass Farms is an entity of Carr Farms which is a diversified, large agricultural enterprise based in Alabama which specializes in row crops, cattle operations, greenhouse production, hemp processing, and sod farming.

This is a hands-on leadership role that involves supervising a small team, managing growing and harvesting activities, coordinating deliveries, and ensuring operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have experience in sod farming, be mechanically inclined, and thrive in a role that combines leadership and hands-on work.

Key Responsibilities:
•   Operations Management:
•   Oversee daily operations, including sod cultivation, irrigation management, harvesting, and delivery coordination.
•   Lead a team of 5-6 full-time employees, ensuring productivity and quality standards are met.
•   Team Leadership:
•   Provide hands-on leadership, working alongside the team to accomplish goals.
•   Train and develop team members, ensuring effective performance in all aspects of sod production.
•   Technical and Mechanical Oversight:
•   Maintain and repair farm equipment as needed to ensure smooth operations.
•   Monitor water management systems and make adjustments to optimize irrigation for sod production.
•   Collaboration and Reporting:
•   Work closely with sales staff overseeing the operation to align production with market needs.
•   Report regularly on farm performance, resource use, and operational challenges. Qualifications:
•   Proven experience in sod farming or a closely related field.
•   Mechanical aptitude with the ability to maintain and repair farm equipment.
