Senior Practitioner - Children in Care Team 3

Location: Seaham, Durham (New Office - with free parking and stunning sea views)

Rate: £226 - £235 per day

Contract Type: Temporary / Agency

Durham County Council is looking for a Senior Practitioner to join our Children in Care Team 3-supporting children aged 0-16 who are cared for by the local authority. This is your opportunity to work in a team that values reflective practice, professional development, and putting children at the centre of everything we do.

About the Role:

As a Senior Practitioner, you will:

  • Work with children in care aged 0-16, building meaningful relationships to support their stability and wellbeing.
  • Provide expert case oversight and guidance, supporting team members with complex casework and decision-making.
  • Carry a caseload of approximately 25 children, most of whom are based within the Durham and North East region.
  • Attend the office in Seaham at least twice a week for duty cover, team meetings, and Stop the Clock development days.

What We're Looking For:

  • Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.
  • Substantial experience in children's social care, ideally within a children in care or looked-after children team.
  • In-depth knowledge of Children in Care legislation, procedures, and policies.
  • Strong communication, supervision, and assessment skills, with a commitment to achieving the best outcomes for children.
