Primary Purpose of Position: The Social Media Marketing Manager works alongside the Public Affairs Director in creating a comprehensive marketing and promotional strategy that aligns with the Tryon Palace brand. The Public Affairs Director and the Social Media Marketing Manager perform a range of public information and public relations related work and are responsible for informing and engaging the public with Tryon Palace events, tours, lectures, happenings and history. All visual and editorial content must support the Tryon Palace brand. This position does require weekend and evening duties on occasion.
Key Responsibilities: - Managing social media on various platforms, including updates on calendars, engagements, and informational and promotional content.
- Coordinating digital advertising to support overall marketing and promotional strategy, to include keeping a running record of start and end of ads running across multiple platforms.
- Keeping email marketing program (Constant Contact) up to date with accurate contact listings and assists with content writing for monthly Newsletter.
- Providing monthly social media and demographic statistics.
- Submitting invoices for payment, timely and accurately, and tracks expenses in Budget Tracking.
- Providing photography and videography needs for Tryon Palace.
Position/Physical Requirements: - Must be able to work Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm, and some weekend and evening hours for special events.

Qualified candidates must have or be able to: - Demonstrated experience with digital technology used across social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and/or X) to build branding and/or use of analytical tools to improve upon results
- Demonstrated experience in professionally writing and/or editing copy for informational and promotional content
- Demonstrated proficiency using Adobe Photoshop
- Demonstrated experience with marketing, promotions, and/or advertising strategies
Management Prefers: - Certification in Digital Marketing
- Working experience utilizing Adobe Illustrator, Acrobat Pro and InDesign
- Working experience editing video using Final Cut Pro
- Experience with using digital cameras and video production equipment

Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, public affairs, journalism, English, or related field from an appropriately accredited institution;

Supplemental and Contact Information Section/Unit Description: Public Affairs performs a range of public information and public related work for Tryon Palace. This work includes developing and delivering promotional and informational materials through a variety of information media - print, digital, radio, broadcast and social media. The Public Affairs team also includes Development and Special Events. Together, they work collaboratively to engage the public with Tryon Palace and build support for its mission. Executing fundraising events and other special events such as exhibit openings and all site events, is a responsibility of this team.
