Social Media Specialist JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Social Media Specialist will lead the development and execution of organic social media strategies that enhance brand awareness, foster engagement, and support the goals of our animal nutrition brands. This role is responsible for planning and managing social media calendars, creating platform-specific content, and developing organic and paid boosting strategies to amplify brand storytelling. Working cross-functionally with brand teams, creative, and performance marketing, the specialist ensures that content aligns with each brand's voice, audience, and business objectives.
This individual brings deep platform knowledge, creativity, and data-driven decision-making to shape how our brands show up across social media. With a strong understanding of animal owners and their communities, the specialist will build engaging experiences across channels like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and emerging platforms. The ideal candidate is passionate about animals, understands audience segmentation, and is motivated by building brands that animal owners trust and love.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Organic Social Strategy & Planning: Develop organic social media strategies that reflect the brand positioning, seasonal moments, and campaign goals for animal nutrition brands. Identify opportunities for boosting high-performing content to extend reach and engagement.
- Content Development & Calendar Management: Build and manage monthly social media calendars for each brand, including writing engaging, on-brand copy and creating platform-specific content. Design visual assets and coordinate with internal teams and creative partners to ensure timely delivery of all campaign materials.
- Community Management & Engagement: Monitor and engage with followers across platforms to foster community and ensure positive brand experiences. Respond to comments, messages, and inquiries in a timely and on-brand manner.
- Campaign Execution & Optimization: Lead the execution of organic and boosted campaigns. Collaborate with paid media partners to support integration with broader campaigns and ensure alignment with performance goals.
- Performance Tracking & Insights: Monitor social media metrics and KPIs to evaluate success, surface insights, and guide content and channel optimization. Share regular reports with stakeholders, highlighting wins and opportunities.
- Trendspotting & Platform Evolution: Stay up to date on social media trends, platform updates, and audience behavior to identify new opportunities for innovation and engagement.
- Reputation & Crisis Support: Partner with communications and customer support teams to help monitor and manage reputation-related issues on social, offering thoughtful and timely responses when appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in social media strategy and execution; 5+ years preferred.
- Strong knowledge of content planning, calendar development, organic social strategy, and basic paid social boosting.
- Experience managing multiple brand voices across various platforms.
- Excellent writing and storytelling skills tailored to digital channels.
- Strong analytical mindset with experience in social metrics and reporting tools.
- Passion for animals or experience in animal/pet care industries is a plus.
