Clarke University is seeking a creative and strategic Social Media Marketer to lead the charge generating ideas focusing on developing, creating, and implementing content for Clarke's social media platforms and other outlets to align with the university's brand, mission, values, and strategic plan. This position oversees the university's social accounts and assists other internal entities such as enrollment management, alumni relations, and advancement. This position is also responsible for ensuring delivery and reporting of social and media campaigns' success, developing and implementing new strategies to drive conversations, responding quickly to marketing initiatives to make on-the-fly adjustments, and acting as the last check for copy and imagery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Advances the university's reputation through purposeful, creative messaging, promoting brand awareness, innovative campaigns, and high-quality content that generates inbound traffic and engagement.
  • Develops social media strategies to increase engagement, followers, fundraising, and involvement that is relevant to our varied audiences (i.e. Google, Blogs, News Features, Influencer Marketing, Canva, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Instagram Stories & Reels, X, Snapchat, LinkedIn, TikTok, mobile, desktop, etc.)
  • Creates content for social media to increase brand awareness with a wide array of audiences, tailoring tone to different audiences.
  • Analyzes competitor benchmarks, social trends, and data analysis to understand how to improve future campaigns and optimize while in-campaign.
  • Stays informed of latest trends and maintains awareness of higher education best practices in content creation and management.
  • Aids the Marketing and Communication team with content needs and maintains a consistent editorial strategy.
  • Assists strategic marketing and reporting related to organic and paid digital campaigns.
  • Supports Marketing team in executing press releases, website, and video; proofreads and edits content as necessary.
  • Build relationships with internal stakeholders to fully understand content and media needs and ideas.
  • Performs social and media listening with updates as needed
  • Assist the Public Information Office and campus officials in response to inclement weather, emergency situations, and other events.
  • Oversees and directs social media influencers.
  • Active on university committees as appropriate.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communication, or related field required
  • Excellent writing, communication, and editing skills, specifically using AP style.
  • Ability to create, implement, and prioritize short-and-long-term plans and projects.
  • Experience launching and introducing new initiatives.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, written, and analytical skills that support multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
  • Adaptability to manage the workflow and a wide variety of projects.
  • Willingness to interact and be present with a wide variety of people both on campus and off.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within the framework of deadlines.
  • Conceptualizing social media campaigns and contests and executing all facets to bring them to life.
  • Social media scheduling tools (e.g. HootSuite or other).
  • Online analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, etc.).
  • Experience in Facebook and LinkedIn brand page creation, strategy, and management.
  • Writing blog posts and articles.
  • Being creative and resourceful.
  • Good organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to be "on-call," including events and weekends as needed to support communication initiatives.
  • Thrives in a collaborative environment.
Additional Information:
  • Some night and weekend work may be required, based on campus events and activities.
  • This is a full-time position.
