Position Summary

Responsible for working with senior management to plan and implement social investment initiatives and programs that strengthen the company's position as a visible community leader and help meet corporate business unit and jurisdictional goals. Focus areas include, foundation grants, executing the United Way (UW) workplace giving campaign, executing Operating Company (OpCo) annual customer and employee volunteer day, community events sponsorship, employee volunteerism, nonprofit board placements and special events management. Scope of position includes strategic planning, program design and implementation, volunteer recruitment, management of project leaders, and communication and marketing efforts around the specific initiatives and programs. Position is also responsible for establishing and maintaining partnerships with key internal and external organizations.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Manage programs and Initiatives in the following focus areas: Execute on employee engagement and volunteerism across OpCo to support the (UW) workplace giving campaign. Coordinate the development of presentations, videos and collateral materials to support the campaign and campaign volunteers. Lead OpCo annual customer and employee volunteer day. Community Events Support: Manage corporate sponsorship of key OpCo community events. Managed Employee Volunteer Projects: Arrange for & manage employee recruitment and execution of strategic corporate-sponsored employee volunteer projects. Assist foundation manager in coordinating and scoring grants. Nonprofit Board Service Referrals/Placements: Work with executives & management level employees to represent Xcel Energy on the boards of directors of strategic community nonprofit organizations.
  • Build or maintain strategic partnerships with key internal leaders, community, civic, education and business organizations through involvement with event support, volunteer projects, board or committee participation.
  • Analyze program delivery and processes, manage budget, track and evaluate results, develop recommendations to eliminate gaps and enhance customer satisfaction, effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Business Units in OpCo jurisdiction to leverage company resources, assist with achievement of area and corporate goals through employee engagement in the community and provide community expertise and consultation.


Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, Communications, Non-Profit Management or combination of education, training and work experience in a related field.
  • Six years of demonstrated work or volunteer experience in the community involvement area, with proven history of ability to quickly build interpersonal relationships, manage multiple projects simultaneously, communicate effectively at all levels of the organization and use influence to generate results.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience in team leadership, the ability to work across business units and jurisdictions as well as program planning and delivery.
  • Above average organizational skills and knowledge and applied skills in the use of Outlook, MS Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge and use of software tools for recruiting volunteers, managing related data, etc.
  • Familiarity with the Xcel Energy budgeting system preferred.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Proven experience in corporate philanthropy and employee engagement, with a demonstrated ability to lead successful employee giving campaigns.
  • Strong track record of engaging with internal and external stakeholders to foster relationships and drive collaborative initiatives.
  • Demonstrated expertise in nonprofit sponsorship execution, with a strong focus on delivering sponsorship benefits including alignment to brand standards, table fulfillment and accurate invoice processing.
  • Proficiency in using CyberGrants or similar platforms for data tracking and effective program management.
  • Experience working with SharePoint for document management, collaboration, and workflow optimization.

Non-Bargaining

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $71,900.00 to $102,100.00 per year
