Creative Financial Staffing has partnered with a growing yet stable transportation company to identify a small company Controller to join their team. This is an in-office position.

Highlights of the Controller opportunity:

  • The Company: Founded nearly 35 years ago, our client provides transportation services in the US & Puerto Rico. With over $50M in revenue, our client has maintained their original client base while adding new client contracts annually.
  • The Role: The Controller will support leadership as a strategic advisor while overseeing financial operations, reporting, and compliance. This role is responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing monthly and annual statements, and managing finance and accounting operations, including accounts payable, receivables, and bank accounts.

The Controller's Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead the finance and accounting department, ensuring accurate financial records and reporting.
  • Oversee audits, month-end closings, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Manage accounts payable, receivables, fixed assets, and inventory accounting.
  • Prepare timely invoices in line with contractual terms.
  • Analyze financial data, ensure compliance with US GAAP, and make strategic recommendations.
  • Maintain financial controls and ensure adherence to corporate tax and purchasing policies.
  • Provide training, supervision, and leadership to the accounting team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business (Accounting major preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of corporate finance or accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, financial planning, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, advanced Excel skills, and accounting software (Microsoft Dynamics GP preferred).
  • Experience with corporate tax, contracts, purchasing, and inventory accounting.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
