Our Small Commercial department is currently seeking a State Management Analyst. This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement in our Worcester, MA location. A fully remote work arrangement can be considered for candidates with strong qualification. This is a full time, exempt role.POSITION OVERVIEW: The position provides data analysis, problem-solving, and project leadership to support a team of State Managers and help them reach their strategic goals in a region. With limited oversight, responsible for gathering, compiling, maintaining and reporting financial data, participates in project work as requested, prepares standard reporting and adhoc reporting as requested.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL: - Performs analysis and provides recommendations to State Management.
- Provide rate revision support, including attending meetings, completing checklists, resolving issues, completing analyses, reviewing filing.
- Review competitor filings and collect input from the field about competitor changes. Consolidate for entry in monthly report.
- Review monthly Profit & Loss statements and other monthly reports, working with State Managers, to identify root causes for variances and emerging trends (e.g. loss ratio was 10 points higher than expected due to 5 large losses that added $2 M to our incurred loss total amount for the month).
- Monitor and report on progress toward financial goals (Growth, CR, LR, Retention). Update rolling 18-month forecast on a regular basis.
- Identify trends and changes needed to ensure profitable growth.
- Work with State Managers to implement state-specific strategies to meet or exceed profit and growth targets.
- Monitor financial results, quoting activity, and conversion rate.
- Update 18-month forecast on a monthly basis and share with Finance, Underwriting, and Distribution.
- Communicates results effectively and in a professional manner.
- Understand how source data impacts reporting and analysis
- Coordinate and facilitate communication across functions.
- Complete ad hoc requests for the State Managers in a timely fashion. Effectively manage time and multiple priorities.
WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY: - Typically has 2 to 5 years related experience and Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.
- Knows and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of particular field of specialization to the completion of moderately difficult assignments
- Experience with data compilation, analysis & interpretation, data integrity, planning & forecasting, reporting, project management and interpersonal effectiveness
- Industry & business knowledge managing complex business activities
