An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, motivated, and enthusiastic Veterinary Surgeon to join a dedicated team in Maldon, Essex. The successful candidate will be joining a practice that has been serving the local community for over a decade, located within the picturesque Heybridge basin with easy access to London and a host of outdoor and leisure activities.

The Duties Within The Role:

The practice sees a full spectrum of first opinion cases, predominantly dogs and cats, along with some small furries and exotics. The surgical caseload includes but is not limited to neutering, mass removals, dentistry, basic ophthalmic surgery, emergency surgery, and both surgical and non-surgical wound management. The practice is equipped with in-house laboratory capabilities and advanced diagnostics, including ultrasound, digital x-ray, and multiparameter monitoring.

The Candidate:

Ideal candidates will be confident with routine medical and surgical cases and looking to progress in their careers. The practice encourages all staff to develop their own areas of interest, offering support and funding for further study.

The Hours:

Flexible working patterns are available to accommodate the modern world, with most vets working between 9 am - 7 pm in a 4-day working week, and a 1:4 weekend rota.

Bank holiday cover is shared amongst the team.

The practice would consider a job share to accommodate part-time working and does not require out-of-hours work.

Attractive salary (dependent on experience/full-time equivalent)

224 hours annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays, based on a 40-hour week), increasing to 264 hours after 2 years' service

Closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day

More about the practice:

With a team comprising 5 knowledgeable and friendly RVNs, 1 student RVN, 2 VCAs, 5 receptionists, and 2.5 veterinary surgeons, the practice offers a collaborative and supportive environment. It works closely with a visiting certificate holder in small animal surgery and can handle a wide case load in practice. Clinical freedom is strongly supported, and regular clinical meetings and in-house CPD ensure high standards of care.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive team in a modern and well-equipped practice. If you are an experienced Veterinary Surgeon looking for a new challenge, apply today.
